When I first joined the Hetalia fandom and I heard a lot of people talking about Auf Wiedersehen, Sweetheart, so I got curious and read it myself.
Since I read it when I was a new fan, I did NOT realize there were incest ships in the fanfic until it was too late...(America x England, Spain x Romano, Austria x Prussia)
Yikes I'm not a fan of that at all
The story takes place during WWII, where Feliciano (Italy), an Italian resistance member falls in love with Ludwig (Germany), a German Pilot.
Yikes they're gay and on opposing sides of the war
That conflict is what made me REALLY interested in the story, and made me feel super anxious at times asking questions like "What would Feliciano's family think?" "Will they ever actually end up together?" "What if other Germans find out?" 
It was really good at keeping me on edge the whole time.
Overall, I really liked this fanfic because it made me suuuper emotional. I even cried while reading but don't tell anyone shhhh 
However, there are SOME things that I do NOT LIKE...
First off, I've heard some people say that there are some historical inaccuracies in the fanfic. I can't confirm nor deny this because WWII history isn't my area of expertise.... but if people are making these claims then I might feel iffy on how accurate the story really is.
Second, there is BARELY any homophobia. THIS IS THE 1940'S!!!! WHY IS EVERYONE SUPER GAY??? There was only one scene with homophobia (the American soldiers finding the picture of Feliciano Ludwig had) but even that was NOTHING. The characters were way too accepting. I NEED MORE ANGST 
Speaking of angst, there was no sad ending. SPOILER WARNING but Feliciano and Ludwig both end up alive?? There was a whole scene where Feliciano gets SHOT in the chest, and I actually think it would have been better for him to end up dying like that (sorry italy). It feels too perfect for both of them to be alive. Well, Ludwig does end up getting paralyzed, but that isn't really that emotional in my opinion.
Yeah and also the side ships were trash. I dont like USUK because England Raised America and they call each other brothers. Same thing with Spain and Romano. Austria and Prussia are cousins, but I don't really care because they were confirmed cousins in 2022. This fanfic was written in 2012, so before it was confirmed.
Despite the things I wish were changed about this fanfic, I still do like it. It made me realize reading can actually be fun lol

I LOVE FLUFF 
Amepan and Fruk are my 2 most favorite hetalia ships ever aaaaaaahhh
Even though this was just a few thousand words it still made me giggle and kick my feet
The story follows Matthew (Canada), watching his brother Alfred (America) get closer to Kiku (Japan) over time. It's very simple but I still enjoyed it a lot. Especially the Christmas scene lol
I like Hetalia fanfics where the characters are just living normal lives. Same thing with the actual episodes of the show. I like Hetalia to see how silly the culture of countries are portrayed, and I think its more enjoyable than watching them go to war and stuff.

Side Ships: America/Russia (Not tagged but I'm pretty sure the author likes them) 
I thought this fanfic was really interesting, and I liked how the characters were written. It's an Au where the characters are in School in the 1980s, where Lithuania and his friends America and Russia would bully Poland (Wow this definitely sounds really weird to normal people ), but ends up falling in love with Poland ooh wow
There were some really cheesy scenes like when Lithuania was pushed into Poland and accidentally kissed in front of other people at school.....It felt like a scene from a Gacha Life mini movie I'm being so serious
The really BIG topic of this fanfic is the homophobia, which I really like because it gave some good conflict and kept me wondering what could happen next.
It handles some harsh topics like self-Harm, sexual assult, and bullying, and I think it was alright. I think it could have been written a little bit better, but it's still good.
My biggest issue with this fic is the ending. (Spoilers obviously) OH MY GOD It was tagged as "Bittersweet ending", but the last paragraph just concluded that the whole story was an essay written being presented to a class. WHAT That is NOT BITTERSWEET! 
It feels so lazy too. It doesn't even confirm WHO supposedly wrote the story. You could even just completely remove the last paragraph and end the story like that. What's the point of confirming that the story wasn't real when the story.....isn't real??? I don't know 
The actual ending of the story with Lithuania and Poland feels a bit incomplete. They do end up together but have to run from America and Russia since they threatened to attack them. Then what? What happens with their relationship? It just says that they're happy to be with each other I guess but what about their future? I saw one comment on the last chapter theorizing that maybe Russia and America realize they like each other which I think would be funny, but why can't this be written in the actual fanfic? Maybe the author wanted the reader to theorize...

Despite my issues, I still really enjoyed reading, 8/10
